The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Staff School on Friday, September 3, 2025, joined the global community to commemorate Teachers\u2019 Day with speeches, dance performances, and an atmosphere of joy celebrating teaching as \u201cthe best profession in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

In her address, the Headmistress of UNILAG Staff School, Mrs. Eunice Adedoyin Akinade, described the teaching profession as one of timeless nobility. She noted that teachers are both \u201cmind builders and moulders,\u201d stressing that societal development is the product of education.<\/p>\n\n

In her address, the Headmistress of UNILAG Staff School, Mrs. Eunice Adedoyin Akinade, described the teaching profession as one of timeless nobility. She noted that teachers are both \u201cmind builders and moulders,\u201d stressing that societal development is the product of education.<\/p>

Similarly, the Dean of the Faculty of Education and Chairman, Board of Governors of UNILAG Staff School, Professor Adebayo Oladipo, praised teachers as \u201cunsung architects of tomorrow\u201d whose dedication lights the path for young minds.<\/p>

\u201cIn a world that often measures success by metrics and milestones, teachers are the quiet revolutionaries who transform classrooms into cradles of curiosity, chalkboards into canvases of dreams, and fleeting lessons into lifelong legacies,\u201d he said.<\/p>

Professor Oladipo further remarked that UNILAG Staff School teachers embody resilience in the face of global uncertainties, economic challenges, and the demands of education reforms. He commended their ability to adapt to hybrid learning models, embrace technology as an ally, and balance the roles of educators, counsellors, and mentors.<\/p>

He assured that the Board of Governors remains committed to amplifying teachers\u2019 voices, and pledged to continue to support initiatives that enhance their impact.<\/p>

In his remarks, Chairman of the school\u2019s Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), Dr. Folorunso Adebayo re-affirmed the association\u2019s support for the school\u2019s growth. He announced a donation of \u20a6200,000 to aid teaching and learning.<\/p>

Similarly, the PTA Vice Chairman, Comrade Oluwasogo Olumide, donated a podium to the school. He was acknowledged for facilitating the provision of thirty (30) computers, and servicing of fifty (50) other systems for the school.<\/p>

Professor Oladipo also personally donated \u20a6250,000 in support of the PTA\u2019s contributions and dedication of the staff.<\/p>

Other dignitaries in attendance included Mrs. Omolara Ige, Supervisor of Lower Basic Primary, and Mrs. Helen Adetutu Edet, Coordinator of Basic Six and General Secretary of the School.<\/p>

The event closed with a vote of thanks from the Headmistress, who expressed appreciation to staff, parents, and well-wishers for their unwavering commitment to the school\u2019s vision.<\/p>
